A voluntary set of ten investment principles (the Myners Principles) was introduced in 2001 and three years later the Treasury assessed the progress made by pension funds in adopting them. This 2004 review concluded that, while pension funds had improved in many respects, some weaknesses remained. It was then agreed that the next review should be conducted by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF).
