Uncertain future as actuaries get ‘noughtie’
New mortality tables from the UK actuarial profession point to improvements in longevity that give pension scheme trustees plenty to consider when making actuarial assumptions. As a result of improvements in life expectancy, previous mortality projections have proved inaccurate. Assessing future best estimates will be a challenge for actuaries and, under the new funding regime, trustees.
